Higgins Adelaide - Community Spirit in Action!

Earlier this year, our Adelaide team partnered with OzHarvest to host a hands-on Cooking for a Cause session with students and mentors.

• OzHarvest rescues 7.5 tonnes of food daily in Adelaide
• 33% of all food in Australia is wasted
• Many communities still experience food insecurity
• Cooking for a Cause transforms rescued food into meals for local charities
• This program is hands-on, educational and zero-waste

On the day, 14 students, their teachers, OzHarvest chefs, volunteers, along with our Adelaide team members Sam Phillips and Almir Djemailovic rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

In just two hours, our combined team: Cooked, packaged and labelled 180 meals. All using rescued ingredients that otherwise would have been discarded. These meals were delivered directly to local charities supporting families in need.

• Students learned about food waste, sustainability and giving back.
• Chefs and volunteers contributed their skills with purpose.
• Schools strengthened their connection with community.
• Higgins strengthened its reputation as a values-driven partner.
