Higgins Apprentices Abroad in Munich!

Sunshine Coast Painters Jack and Rowan Learning the German Way

After completing their first six weeks in Kaiserslautern, where they supported repaint works at the US Air Force base, Jack and Rowan have now settled into Munich, just in time for the Oktoberfest!

During their time abroad, they’ve been immersed in a variety of internal and external repaint projects, gaining hands-on experience with German methods of rendering and spraying. External access has mostly been via scaffold, with the occasional “old-school” ladder adding to the adventure!

It hasn’t all been work, though. Verena and Stephanie, who visited Higgins Coatings in 2024 have reunited with Jack and Rowan in Munich, helping them as translators and ensuring they make the most of the cultural exchange. Verena has also been taking on the role of work co-ordinator, making sure the boys are exposed to a wide range of job sites.

Adding to their unique experience, the Munich branch manager has been guiding them through the city, from local hospitality to surprising sights like river surfing in the heart of Munich. They are excited to join in on the Oktoberfest celebrations soon.

We are proud of Jack and Rowan and can’t wait to follow their journey. Keep an eye out for updates over the next few months as they represent Higgins abroad!
