For over 70 years, Higgins has been striving to create long-lasting value for the communities in which we operate. So, when OzHarvest reached out for support, we jumped at the chance to work with this amazing charity.

OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation which is on a mission to nourish the country by preventing good food from going to waste. OzHarvest collects surplus food from donors such as supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants and delivers it to charities that help people in need. This national organisation has locations throughout Australia, but the growing demand for its services has seen their Melbourne and Adelaide operations outgrow their facilities. So, when it was time for moving day, the Higgins crew were there to lend a hand.

Our Melbourne team kicked off a week-long project at OzHarvest’s new Port Melbourne facility by painting their offices in the iconic OzHarvest yellow as well as painting their warehouse. At the same time, our Adelaide team worked with its suppliers in securing supplies and services for the Adelaide move. Higgins’ paint partner, Dulux, was generous enough to supply the paint for the new Melbourne and Adelaide facilities.

Higgins' National Operations Manager Nick Higgins was moved by OzHarvest's operations. “The work that OzHarvest does within the Australian community is amazing. Their “Yellow Army” is not only helping prevent food waste, but they have continued to help vulnerable Australians throughout the pandemic.

“Visiting OzHarvest’s new Port Melbourne facility and talking to their staff and volunteers about how the need for food relief has changed since the pandemic started was an eye opener. The work that their front-line workers do is inspiring and we’re all too happy to help where we can” said Nick Higgins.

"OzHarvest are grateful for the generous support Higgins Coatings has provided in both Melbourne and Adelaide" said OzHarvest's Vic & SA Engagement Coordinator, Alana Roberts. "It’s great to see a splash of our iconic yellow.  The in-kind support has allowed us to focus on ‘Nourishing Our Country’ and continue delivering meals to the vulnerable community around us."

Higgins continues to provide support to OzHarvest in the form of general painting and building services.
