Celebrative Creativity and Sustainability

We're proud to celebrate one of our own Mick Brown from the Gold Coast branch whose latest sculpture "The Dream Rider" is catching eyes at the Swell Sculpture Festival 2025!

What makes this artwork remarkable is not just the creativity, but the materials. Mick created Dream Rider using approximately 90% of waste collected from Higgins job sites (15L polypropylene paint buckets) and 30 discarded surfboards - giving new life to materials that would otherwise have been discarded. It’s a powerful reminder of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.

The Dream Rider reflects the impact of consumerism on our environment. By embracing discarded materials, it symbolises the natural motion of wind and surf, reminding us of humanity’s original connection with the earth. It is Mick’s dream that every human will respect our planet, habitat and wildlife. A dream that truly “rides” on the wings of Dream Rider.

Congratulations Mick on this incredible achievement. We’re proud to have such talent within our Higgins family, and we look forward to seeing Dream Rider on display at the Swell Sculpture Festival 2025 at Tugun and Currumbin Beaches, 12–21 September.
