Stratco’s Home Improvement store in Gepps Cross

Stratco’s Home Improvement store in Gepps Cross needed a facelift, with the exterior showing deterioration and fading.

Stratco determined that an external repaint was needed to uplift the facility and incorporate the new branding with our local Adelaide team happy to accommodate.

The challenge

The client’s priority was to reduce the impact of the ongoing work on their day-to-day operations. The building’s exterior facade is elevated above shade sails, adjacent to loading areas and patron car parks.

Each of these areas provided a unique challenge. Accessing the surfaces was one consideration, however, doing so while enabling Stratco to trade with minimal interference was another. Inclement weather provided an additional challenge in the operational delivery of the project.

Solution

Our operations team prepared the works schedule with the need to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of pedestrians in mind. Within this, we provided a detailed traffic management system that enabled continued access to loading areas for trucks and parking areas for pedestrians.

This allowed the staged sectional repaints to be performed with minimal disruption to Stratco's daily operations. When working around an area with shade sails, we removed the sails and applied a series of Dulux paints, before reinstating the sails.

Wet weather accumulated approximately 10 lost days throughout the project, although our ability to scale up our workforce as required meant that the unavoidable rain did not delay the completion date for the project.

Results

Despite the weather concerns, our full-time team of five operatives completed the project on time with no overruns. It was great to be able to deliver a high-quality project in trying circumstances.
