Restoring Tired Kitchen Classroom Floors in Just 2 Days!
Project Overview
Higgins Coatings recently partnered with Kingsford Smith School to rejuvenate the vinyl floor in their kitchen classroom. Over time, the existing floor had become discoloured, extremely dirty, and difficult to maintain. Our team was trusted to deliver a modern, durable, and cost-effective solution that would refresh the space with minimal disruption to the school.
Services Delivered
Our Canberra team delivered a comprehensive floor rejuvenation service, which included:
Surface Restoration & Coating Application
- Strip cleaning and a full wet cut back to remove built-up acrylic sealers, dirt, and grime.
- Application of one coat of PU Colour in Silver Grey to revitalise and modernise the surface.
- Application of two coats of PU sealer with R11 additive to ensure long-lasting protection and slip resistance.
Challenges and Solutions
Our team worked closely with the management at Kingsford Smith School.
Surface preparation
The original floor had heavy discolouration and a build-up of acrylic sealer, which required careful preparation. The Canberra team utilised a specialised stripping process that removed contaminants while creating a sound base for coatings, ensuring a durable finish.
Tight timeframes
Works had to be completed in just one weekend (2 days). A two-person team worked efficiently to meet deadline without compromising quality.
Results and Impact
The project was delivered on time, to a high standard – reflecting our commitment to quality and client care.
- High-Quality Finish: Achieved a colour change from yellow/grey to Silver Grey, refreshing the learning environment.
- On-time Delivery: Works were completed over a weekend, eliminating disruption to school operations.
- Smarter Alternative: Delivered a cost-effective alternative to replacement
