Higgins Coatings - School Repaint and Refurbishment
Project Overview
Higgins Coatings was engaged by Kincoppal–Rose Bay School, a leading independent girls’ college in Sydney, to deliver comprehensive repaint and refurbishment across several key campus buildings and outdoor spaces.
With works scheduled during the end-of-year holiday period, this project required careful planning, multiple access solutions and efficient delivery to ensure the campus was fully refreshed before staff and students returned.
Our Sydney team combined repaint works, timber deck refurbishment and specialist cleaning treatments to restore both presentation and durability across the site.
Scope of Works
Our Sydney team delivered:
- Repaint of Aquatic Centre complex
- Repaint of Basketball Stadium
- Repaint of Chapel Courtyard and Principals Courtyard
- Repaint of Harbour Terrace and Sheldon House
- Sandstone wall cleaning and restoration
- Refurbishment of multiple timber decks across campus
Challenges and Solutions
Our team faced several challenges when working at the Kincoppal-Rose Bay School.
-
Delivering within a strict holiday window: All works needed to be completed before the new term commenced. Our team scheduled crews across multiple buildings simultaneously and staged works carefully to maximise productivity during the 6-8 week shutdown period
-
Cleaning sensitive roof tiles: Roof tiles required cleaning but were vulnerable to pressure damage. Instead of high-pressure washing, Higgins applied a biodegradable soft-wash treatment that safely removed vegetation while continuing to improve the clean over time, extending results for up to 12 months
-
Accessing the building spire: Some areas could not be reached using traditional access equipment. Our team deployed specialist drone washing technology – Altitude service to clean the spire safely and efficiently, avoiding costly temporary structures or risky access methods
This demonstrates our ability to apply innovative solutions where conventional methods fall short.
Results and Impact
The works delivered both immediate visual improvements and long-term performance benefits for the school.
- Refreshed campus presentation: Repainted buildings, restored sandstone and refurbished decks significantly improved the look and feel of the campus
- Asset protection: The repaint and timber refurbishment protect surfaces from weathering and deterioration, supporting long-term maintenance performance
- Improved outdoor learning spaces: Restored decks and courtyards enhance usability for students and staff while improving safety and durability
- Operational confidence: Completing works within the shutdown period ensured zero disruption to school operations
