Our Projects

Craigow Vineyard

Craigow Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in southern Tasmania's Coal River Valley, features both a vineyard and an onsite cellar door. Established in the 1800s, it has become a notable location for premium cool-climate wines.

Our Hobart team were engaged by Craigow owner Barry Edwards, to rejuvenate the exterior of the heritage house. The project included a comprehensive repainting of the roof, which involved pressure washing to eliminate old, flaky paint, followed by re-screwing and applying an undercoat of Acratex MX Primer. The final top coats were applied using Woodland Grey Acratex Membrane. Given the steep pitch and height of the roof, abseiling rope work was utilised for safety.

Additional tasks encompassed repainting window frames, roof fascias, doors and door frames, as well as veranda posts and surrounds. To safely access the upper levels and top window sections, we employed boom lift and track boom equipment.

A strategic plan was implemented to prevent runoff from flaky paint from contaminating the property’s water tanks. This involved modifying and installing temporary PVC pipework, which was removed upon project completion.

This project marked Higgins' first major winery undertaking in Tasmania, paving the way for subsequent painting projects on the property, including the repainting of two barns.
