Opened in 1878, the Birkenhead historical tavern is the only tavern situated on the banks of the Port River, opposite the Port Adelaide docks. As you’d expect, much has changed since The Birk opened over a century ago, but it still has its local characters in the Riverview bar, ready with a tale or two handed down over the years about The Birk, ghosts and tunnels that are said to run throughout Port Adelaide.
In 2013, the owners The Barreau Hotel Group employed designer Heidi Barreau from Plume Design to revitalise the hotel with a new and exciting colour scheme and Higgins was chosen to deliver this exciting change. The team enjoyed working on this little slice of history and the client was very happy with our flexibility in working with the staff and management around their needs, as well as with the great end result.
