The Convent is an iconic building of historical significance located in the Heart of Mount Gambier, which now serves as a commercial hub for many local businesses.
Our Adelaide team was engaged by De Bruin Group to rejuvenate and enhance the exterior of this beautiful building and it continues to shine as an example of heritage preservation in a city well known for its celebration and protection of historical architecture.
The facility is key to the local economy, so for the project's duration, our Adelaide team committed to supporting the Mount Gambier economy. We sourced all consumables and materials through the region's local Haymes branch and hired all access equipment through a local family-owned company. We accommodated all our painters and operations staff within Mount Gambier for the project's duration.
The project represented an opportunity for collaboration between three Australian-owned-and-operated businesses; Higgins Coatings, De Bruin Group, and Haymes Paint.
The scope of works featured external repainting to The Convent and The Convent Townhouses, including building repairs on the Northern Balcony and Front Entrance Stonework.
We safely accessed the building's exterior with several boom and scissor lifts. We scaled up our workforce to overcome the weather constraints and deliver the project over 12 weeks.
Dealing with Higgins from the beginning to the end has been great. From our first conversation with Higgins, coming to inspect our site, to assessing the job, quoting, implementing and site inspections. Higgins have been extremely professional and the team that completed our job went above our expectations.
The communication with our WHS officer & Higgins supervisor & foreman for daily updates were very important. The traffic management plan worked well. The overall result of The Convent is amazing and I continually get comments from the local community about how great it is looking.
