At Higgins we offer an array of colours and products that offer both superior protection and longevity. Thanks to one of our suppliers Taubmans, we were able to achieve outstanding results and more importantly, a satisfied customer. Higgins was awarded the painting contract for a major new apartment complex in the inner urban neighbourhood of Melbourne, Southbank Grand Apartments. Starting in mid-2014, our New Construction team successfully completed the painting at the end of 2015 using a unique selection of Taubmans products.
Southbank Grand Apartments
The project is property developer Central Equity’s largest to date, comprising 515 apartments, retail tenancies and recreational facilities over 43 levels, at a cost of over $120 million.
Our Project Manager, with a team of up to 22 painters, worked with construction company Brookfield Multiplex. The tight timeframe was the greatest challenge. Our tradespeople worked hard on a 6 day week schedule to complete the internal and external paint finishes, completing over 2 floors per week to get the job done!
This major new development has been a real coup for our experienced and reliable team and we are very pleased with the stunning finished product.

Taubmans Products
Following a vigouros selection process and product trials with various paint manufactures, a Taubmans paint system was choosen for its quality, coverage and durability.
- Pure Performance Low Sheen
- Pure Performance Trim
- Tradex Ceiling Flat
All of the products selected are 100% acrylic high performance water based paints, with a unique low VOC formula and low odour. They are exclusively engineered with Microban® antibacterial protection which inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, mould, mildew and fungus; enabling a cleaner, fresher and safer environment.
Pure Performance Low Sheen and Trim is scuff resistant and highly washable. It has also been approved by the National Asthma Council Australia’s Sensitive Choice® program.
Taubmans Tradex Ceiling is a completely flat finish with excellent coverage, it eliminates roller splatter and is easy to spray.
The Higgins team using these products found them to be high in quality and work extremely well when applied to the new surfaces.
